Its mission lies in financing the studies conducted by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alamaya.net\/en\/foundation\/board-of-trustees\/cv-prof-kim-do-cuenod\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Kim Do Cu\u00e9nod<\/a><\/strong> (Lausanne University, Switzerland) and her colleagues, which are focused on developing possible means to establish an <strong>early diagnosis\u00a0of the disease<\/strong> and hence to identify <strong>new treatments<\/strong> as well as <strong>preventive measures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, these studies are leading to relevant progress in the understanding and treatment of other psychiatric diseases &#8211; in particular of <strong>autism<\/strong> and <strong>bipolar disorders<\/strong> (manic-depressive disorders).<\/p>\n<p>On average, <strong>schizophrenia <\/strong>affects <strong>1 out of 100 persons<\/strong>, <strong>autism <\/strong>affects <strong>1 out of 100 children<\/strong>, and <strong>bipolar disorders <\/strong>between <strong>1% and 2% of the population<\/strong>; schizophrenia and bipolar disorders generally appear during <strong>adolescence <\/strong>or in <strong>young adults<\/strong>.
